History Of the Hall
The Hall was originally built in 1912 to serve as a band hall for the Manaia Town Council. It was later used as a hospital in 1919 and in 1953 as a picture theatre after the Manaia Town Hall burnt down. Over the years the Hall has been used
for tap and highland dancing, Girl Guides and a builders workshop. On 14 September 1992, Pam Willing opened the doors of the Taranaki Country Music Hall of Fame to the public, in honour of the memory of her two sisters, Violet Kennedy and Irene Price.
World renown country musicians, Helen and Ian Braithwaite purchased the Hall on 20 September 2002 and expanded on Pam’s vision.

albums that are played on radio stations internationally. The current Hall patron
is Bryan Vickery

Bringing you face to face with the Country Music legends of our time...
The Hall is adorned with collections of photographs of famous country music stars from around the world, displayed in antique mirror frames.
Displays also include farming memorabilia of New Zealand’s yesteryear and household items that bring back memories of the good ol’ days singing around the piano.
As this site is work in progress it will be updated and other features added to it over the next month including music and video clips so please revisit it on a regular basis and also revisit Event Finda for future Events.

This Thursday is our last walk up evening of 2015 and is our Xmas Night . There is wheel chair access.
Walk Up = place your name in the book and on most nights you will get the opportunity to sing or perform one item and sometimes two.
If the resident backing group know your item or your can provide them with the music you will have live backing.
If you would like to join us for this Xmas Concert and would like to perform a song or play a instrument then please give Helen Braithwaite a call or text her mobile 0274825108 to discuss what songs you intend to sing or perform so she can prepare the backing group with the music etc

Door open at 6:30 the evening kick starts at 7pm and runs to around 9:30 with a supper to follow.
Open to the public including older children that can sit thru a couple of hours of live action.
General Admission cost $3 per person and we would appreciate a contribution for supper, plate of homemade food or even a packet of biscuits per family or couple or individual attending. Eftpos is available between 6.30pm and 7pm only.
Last Thursday there were 18 items sang or preformed by walk ups and the backing group as a group and also as solo singers including three items from a visitor from England.
This is a regular Thursday night event with the first one for 2016 on Thursday the 7th January at 7pm.
There is also a matinee walkup concert on the second Saturday of each calendar month with the first one for 2016 been on February 9th this one starts at 1pm and concludes at around 4pm.
Our new website for which the link is above should be active sometime this Monday if not sooner, but we would also have a a Facebook public Group Page which you just need to cut and paste to link with this group and also we have last week setup up a Public Facebook page. We would appreciate if you would visit this page and like it.
